Avinash Samudrala Is An Innovative Businessman
Posted on April 12th, 2010
Avinash Samudrala is an innovative businessman and thinker. He attended the Goizueta Business School at the prestigious Emory University, one of the Southern Ivy League schools. After that he worked at AEA Investors, a private equity firm, as an associate. He co-founded AskSunday.com, along with Steve Ludmer, in November of 2006. It was July 2007 when the company began actually offering their services. Samudrala got the idea because he was a busy professional who thought it would be good to have a person helping him with daily tasks, but did not have the necessary money to employ a personal assistant.
AskSunday.com is a company, and website, which offers access to personal assistants. While personal assistants have traditionally been available only to richer segments of the population, like Wall Street bankers and CEOs. However, personal assistants are no longer signs of aristocracy in America—virtually anyone can get the help they need, and for much less than they used to be. AskSunday.com lets customers pay a low monthly fee and get access to around-the-clock personal assistance. The New York-based company allows individuals to get help with travel arrangements, dinner reservations, or wake-up calls—whatever the client needs helps with.
Where did this genius idea come from? Well, Samudrala’s parents hail from India and he still knows many people there. He became aware of the significant amount of outsourcing to India that currently occurs in many industries and thought, why not for personal assistants too?
